The whole journey

A careful path from hello to home.

cats.exchange helps guardians and adopters make a good decision without rushing either side.

1. Create an honest profile

Guardians describe temperament, routines, health, history, dealbreakers, and the home where their cat can thrive.

2. Apply thoughtfully

Adopters introduce their household, experience, housing permission, and reasons the cat feels like a match.

3. Screen both ways

Identity and community signals support direct conversation. Either party can slow down, ask questions, or decline.

4. Meet safely

Start by video, then meet with another person present. Confirm records and never exchange a cat in a parking lot.

5. Plan the transition

Agree on supplies, records, medications, a transition window, and what happens if the placement is not right.

6. Keep the promise

Check in after the handoff and keep contact details current. Responsible rehoming includes a humane backup plan.
